Libre office replaced open office a while ago from my understanding. You can still get open office but i don't think its updated very often and I have heard it has issues. I almost prefer lbibre office over the latest version of microsoft word honestly and its free.

I have windows 10 and need Microsoft Word or something like it but would rather not pay a monthly fee. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For free you have either the Libre Office https://www.libreoffice.org/
It's great and similar to Word, so you won't have problem adapting to the new interface, don't worry.
you could buy an older Microsoft office product that's not subsection based and install it. I run Microsoft office 2007--word, powerpoint, excel ect. on my windows 10 system.
