Hello.

I'm buying a PC and it has an Intel i5-6500 Skylake CPU. I won't be buying a dedicated GPU for this configuration, instead I am relying on the Intel HD 530. This why I'm worried. I am also buying an LG 25UM58("http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-25UM58-P-ultrawide-monitor").

I'm wondering if the integrated GPU will be able to handle this monitor? The CPU specs suggest that it can use HDMI 1.4 and it supports 4k resolution. Does this mean it should work just fine with HDMI 2.0?

HDMI 1.4 can do 1080p at up to...

That's a 4K 75Hz monitor.

The i5-6500 has HDMI 1.4 which will work in a 2.0 port - but it's limited to 4K @ 24Hz. DisplayPort will provide 4K @ 60Hz, but the monitor you're looking at appears to be HDMI only.

Running below the native refresh rate (ie 24Hz on a 75Hz monitor) is not likely to be an enjoyable experience.

I would rethink either the monitor (and find one using displayport and ensure your motherboard can do so also), or look to add a GPU. If you only need basic functionality out of it (ie not gaming), it's not likely to be too expensive

It will work with an HDMI 2.0 monitor but be limited to HDMI 1.4 bandwidth, resolution, and refresh rate limitations. I think it is limited to 30Hz at 4K. But here seems to be some conflicting info as some places state 24Hz but in practice I have seen 4K 30Hz over HDMI 1.4.

This isn't a 4k monitor. It's 21:9 1080p. Check the specs here:

HDMI 1.4 can do 1080p at up to 144Hz. I hope this helps you.

 wow, sorry about that! I was looking for the Hz, and found it in the comments - in the same sentence the guy mentioned 4K, so I jumped to conclusions.

HDMI 2.0 is pretty pointless on that monitor.

You're fine. HDMI 1.4 can even support 1080p @ 120Hz.
