Here we go - I got some good recommendations a while ago on a low-budget build but decided to hold off at that time. I've basically doubled my budget and put together a parts list that I think will more than meet my needs with plenty of room for future upgrades. I've been reading the forums for a while now trying to educate myself but would love some input on this build before I pull the trigger, will be ordering within the next two weeks, basically as soon as I'm confident I've got a good plan for the build.

Main questions are about component quality (I tried to select only parts with excellent reviews) and whether I'm going overkill and could scale anything down for a substantial savings. Would be great to get the price down enough to include Windows and a monitor in this budget, but it's not necessary. Obviously I don't want to waste money, but if I can spend a little more now to get better features and longevity it's probably worth it for me.

Also not sure if I need to add a fan to this system or if it will stay cool enough as is.

This is my first ever DIY build so any help is appreciated. I used newegg as the supplier for all parts just for simplicity so I can put it all in one order and don't have to deal with multiple vendors if there are any issues. Not opposed to buying from other outlets, but I want to keep it easy as possible for myself.

Approximate Purchase Date: within two weeks
Budget Range: $800 USD before shipping
System Usage: Gaming and general use, possibly running Cad software down the line..
Are you buying a monitor: Yes but am budgeting separately for this
Do you need to buy OS: Yes, but budgeting separately for this
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg
Location: USA
Parts Preferences: Intel i5
Overclocking: no
SLI or Crossfire: not necessary but having the option for the future is just dandy
Your Monitor Resolution: best compatible I can find around $100, budgeting separately
Why Are You Upgrading: take advantage of better gaming and graphics, current pc is old and weak, want to learn

So here's what I came up with:

Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xwhj4D/intel-cpu-bx80662i56500
Thinking I want an i5 over an i3 in order to make sure this thing lasts a few years for my needs.

Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7tp323/gigabyte-motherboard-gah170md3h
Maybe more than I need, but has great reviews and supposedly easy BIOS setup which is
attractive since I'm a noob at this.

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kkL7YJ/kingston-memory-hx421c14fbk28
Just looking for some decent RAM at a good price

A-Data Premier SP550 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qf98TW/a-data-internal-hard-drive-asp550ss3120gmc
Don't have any experience with SSDs but it seems like a great feature for $40-50 bucks

Toshiba 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fpCwrH/toshiba-internal-hard-drive-dt01aca200
Could probably scale down to 1TB, but we're living in a data-intensive world

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB WINDFORCE OC 6G Video Card
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7R...-windforce-oc-6g-video-card-gv-n1060wf2oc-6gd
Just looking for the best GPU I can get in the $200-$250 range

Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/cTQypg/corsair-case-200r
Case may be larger than I need, selected because of good reviews, easy cable management and room for future upgrades. Could probably save some cash here if it's worth the trade-off.

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qYTrxr/evga-power-supply-220g20550y1
Probably more watts than I need, but it's not much more expensive than Bronze certified and modular seems like the way to go

I would appreciate any advice from you experts out there on the quality of this build and whether I can get more bang for my buck with some different choices. Thanks in advance!
