New Monitor quick question regarding display port.

Hi,

Sorry for my noob question but I've just purchased a Asus MG279Q monitor. It came with only a mini display port cable, 2.1. Not a Normal display port 2.1 and the usual HDMI cables etc.

Now to run freesync I know I've got to use displayport so I assumed it would come with this as standard, not the mini.

So my question is does this matter? Is using a mini DP cable in any way diminishing what a normal DP cable does?

Is their even a difference between them?

Nevermind, I've played with it to test it and it works sweet and the resolution is in a different league to my old 60hz 1080p monitor. I'm disgusted with myself that I didn't upgrade sooner :/
