CPU upgrade athlon ll x4 640

Hey guys, my motherboard can only handle AM3 socket processors, I was wondering what would be the best upgrade from an athlon ll x4 640, since I don't really like the processor, or would you recommend getting a new motherboard because I prefer Intel processors better. if I do switch to intel, what processor would go with my gpu?

Specs are as followed:
athlon ll x4 640 @ 3ghz
asus radeon hd 7870 2gb ddr5
8gb ddr3 ram
750 gb hhd
motherboard : N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)
500w evga power supply

Install an SSD! You will feel like you have a whole new computer; the speed will be a lot better. You also save yourself from having to replace the motherboard, which in turn means that there is no need to reinstall Windows.
