Would if be safe to use a the PSU of a pre-built PC for a new graphics card.

The title says everything really. The card I'm planning to by is a gigabyte 1060 6gb mini, the psu has enough power for it but I've heard pre-built PSUs can be a bit sketchy.

Many PSUs from pre-built PCs don't have the 6 or 8 pin connectors required for newer graphics cards. If it has the connectors, or if the video card does not require one.... I say give it a try.

I can't find the name/model of it :p All I know about it is that it's a 300w psu that is made by hipro electronics.

I can get a x2 sata cable to a 6 pin adapter but now I feel like its too risky powering a 1060 with such a crappy psu

how about running something like a gtx 750 ti or 950 on it?
