Looking to upgrade graphics card, budget is $470-500

I currently have a Radeon HD 7870. My motherboard is an MSI P67A-GD65 and I also have an Asus Z97 killer I could potentially swap in. My budget is $470-500ish. Just bought a beater car thats needs fixin so the 1080 is out of the question. Suggestions?

My initial thought is to get a GTX1070 and new power supply. I am assuming your psu needs to be replaced. Could be wrong.

if you have a i5 drop in a 1070

make sure your power supply is up to the job

8GB RAM DDR3
120GB SSD
My Power supply is an antec rated at 650W

You could get a 1070 and a used 4th gen i5 or i7 for $500. That's what I'd do. Then sell your i5 2400 + motherboard.
