Does the motherboard control the speed of a water pump

Going to be sorting out/fixing a friends pc. Just need to know one thing nothing else.

Has a h55 cooler, if the fan for the cooler is connected to the cpu_fan header I understand that will be pwm controlled.
There isint a cpu_opt header on the mobo however.
As some motherboards have the ability to contrl the speed of 3 pin fans as well as 4 pin fans, if his does. Will connecting the water pump to a fan header chang ethe speed of the water pump motor? The wire on the water pump is 2 pin i believe.

Also, is it fine to be running the pump at 100% speed all the time?

It is fine to be running the pump at 100% speed all the time. I don't know why you would want to. Your motherboard model may have fan speed control software.

I thought the pump was meant to run at full speed no?
