Is it safe to downclock a display's refresh rate?

I have a 75 Hz G-sync laptop display but using Nvidia Control Panel I made a custom resolution to work only with Fallout 4. I left everything the same except for the refresh rate, which I set at 60 Hz. Will running my display like this damage it or shorten its lifespan? I should say that I have tried all other high refresh rate fixes for FO4 but they only work temporarily.
