DVI D to vga adapter not working for my old CRT

Hello, i have bought a expensive new pc with a zotac gtx 1060, that only have 3 display ports, 1 hdmi, 1 dvi d dual link, so, i have a old crt that goes to 100hz and want to use for playing csgo, but i can get image using the DVI D to vga, what is the problem?

if i try a displayport to vga it will work?

You can not use VGA adapter on DVI-D port you need DVI-I because DVI-D only has digital signal and VGA is analog. DVI-I has both digital and analog

Im guessing you are trying to use a cheap passive adapter. Thosd dont work. DVI-D to VGA requires an active converter. The GTX 1060 has no native support for analog signals so any port on that gpu will require an active adapter to use VGA.

Ivan96 the GTX 1060 has no DVI-I port it only has DVI-D so a DVI-I to VGA adapter will not work.

I know,my point was that he can't use that adapter on his gpu at all because he need DVI-I for that and he doesn't have one.

yeah, i tried a display port to vga, and it worked
