Greetings,

I'm trying to get dual channel from the following without success:

System Manufacturer: LENOVO
System Model: 80M8
BIOS: Phoenix BIOS SC-T v2.1
Processor: AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 7074MB RAM

Help will be appreciated. Thank you.

You're using slots 1&2, whereas a 'channel' would usually require slots 1&3 or 2&4 populated. (Even if your board only has 2 slots, they'll be recognized as 1&3 or 2&4 if the board is capable of dual-channel). Usually the DIMM slots are color-coded?

The fact that you do not have a matching RAM 'kit' (sold together), and not even the same brand/model may be playing part of it also, but I would ensure you're populating the correct slots first of all.

One lists "single" rank and the other "dual", which makes me think there's something in that aspect too, but that's a new one to me, so I can't shed any light on it.

It looks to be a laptop which only has two SO-DIMM's.
I am thinking the difference in RAM modules is causing the problem like the single and dual ranking

Yes, This notebok only has 2 slots. What you said could be true, i'll see if others can confirm.

Very true! Good catch.

Even laptops should be recognized as slots 1&3 or 2&4.......assuming the board is capable of dual channel.
a G51 is new enough though, I'd be very surprised if it didn't.

It must be down to the differences between the modules.

The Puma cores use the same microarchitecture as Jaguar, and inherits the design:

Integrated single channel memory controller supporting 64bit DDR3L

so that's that
