Current Build:
i5 4570
Gtx Asus 1070
16gb of vengence ram
Asus 1080p 60hz 1ms screen

I'm currently looking into upgrading my monitor and debating on which to get, where the screen tearing on my current screen is horrible after it goes over 60fps, so I have to essentially have to have vertical sync on to lock my fps at 60. My screen is completely outclassed and I knew this going in, but I didn't think my gtx 1070 would just devastate my screen.

So I'm fine at 60fps for any game, looks great, so how much improvement would a 144hz screen improve performance?

So the gtx 1070 seems to be a decent performer for 1440p at the highest settings, but some results do show that the fps can drop below 60fps, so would a 1440p be recommended.

Help please, don't want to go in blindly and buy a monitor, I've read previous post and they seemed pretty inconclusive to me.

lol I run 90+ FPS on DOOM at 1440p with a GTX1070. you have more than enough horsepower to run a 144Hz screen even at 1440p.
if you like sharper images get a 1440p screen
if you like nice colors get an IPS screen
if you like smooth gaming for FPS games get a 144Hz screen

remember pascal cards have a FastSync option you can choose instead of Vsync, try that instead of tearing!

So a 1440p 60hz monitor with gsync is worth looking into, from what im seeing my gtx 1070 can handle 1440p 60 fps

It's completely up to your preference. With a 1440p monitor you'll see games look so much more crisp and beautiful, however, like you mentioned some games won't allow you to max it out and you may have to turn down settings. Same thing with 1080p you may need to turn down some settings to hit that 120/144 but most of the time you won't have to.

So the difference between 1440p and 1080p is pretty evident, hhhmmm. I'm seeing a lot of 1440p benchmarks that might be convincing me to go that route. What I'm not reading about 144hz is that is a complete game changer. I personally think 60 fps is something that I can live with. Thanks.

I'm running a gtx 1070, not sure my system is equivalent to your SLI setup, but I know that I can get 60+ fps with a 1440p montior
