Hello Everyone. I currently have a Dell Computer which i purchsed about 3 years ago. I bought it with windows 7. Then i purchased windows 8 retail and installed it on the computer and then proceeded to upgrade to 8.1 then now to windows 10 which i currently have. My current dell computer has a chipset is Core I5 Series C/216. My motherboard broke and was thinking about building my own computer with a Gigabyte z170 LGA 1151 motherboard and a Intel core I7 6700K. My question is, can i reinstall my current windows 10 on the new computer i will build with a new chipset? Can you please tell me what the process is to be able to reinstall windows 10 on the new computer with the old product key? thanks.

as long as it was a retail key it should be valid for a new PC. but just to be sure make sure your computer is updated to to the windows 10 anniversary update and you have signed into the computer with a microsoft account. the reason for this wil be explained in the link that was posted above
