Specs:
Asrock Z77 Extreme4 mobo (UEFI Bios)
i7 3770 cpu
Bluray reader/writer
GTX 970
650w power supply
2HDD (no raid)
1SSD
2 x 8GB patriot memory
Yesterday, I Installed a GeForce GTX 970. It kept randomly crashing at first--but it at least worked. Then, I decided to install the most recent Nvidia graphics drivers, and, right after the installation started, my monitor lost signal. If I boot, I see the boot screen (but not at my usual resolution because the PC is using the Microsoft driver, not the Nvidia driver with higher resolution), and right after the boot screen I lose signal again.
I can get back into my system through safe mode and removal of the driver, but every time I try to install an Nvidia driver, the same issue happens. Every time before install I remove all old drivers with DDU (automatic driver download turned off) and a restart. I've tried drivers both old and new from Nvidia to no avail.
The only driver that works is the basic windows one, but that's useless. I've also tried switching from the DVI port to the HDMI port, as well as having two displays hooked up at once. Nothing.
I've also tried disabling the onboard graphics. Nothing.
After all my attempts, I thought I would try my old graphics card, a GTX 750. Initially it gave me a BSOD upon attempting Nvidia driver installation. However, after a second attempt, my old graphics card is up and running just fine like it always has. The only issue seems to be with nvidia drivers and the 970.
Thanks in advance!
