Remote Control for PC Monitor

Hi, so basically I was wondering if there was any way to control a PC monitor with a remote control without going through the PC. I have a Samsung S34E790C PC monitor and use it both for my PC and as a TV with a HDMI cable to a TV box. It would be greatly beneficial for me to be able to control the monitor in the same way that I can control the TV box. So I know that I would most likely need to get an IR port (the monitor has 4 USB ports) although not sure if there would need to be programming so the remote control can understand how to turn off/on the monitor, turn up/down the volume, etc.

I've looked around and tried to find this although have yet to find a solution to my question (suggesting it may not be possible) but would be great to hear feedback from anyone who thinks it could be done.

Does the monitor have an IR sensor or RS232 port?

No, I don't think it does.

As it's highly unlikely that the built in USB hub can be used to control the monitor then you are out of luck.
