I am currently building a new PC with a GTX 1070 and i figure with the new PC it should also warrant a new monitor. Right now i am using a shitty 21.5in 1080p monitor. I cant stand the thing anymore because the monitor is way too small for me. I have to sit about a foot in front of the monitor to feel any degree of immersion in a game and sitting that close to a screen just sucks. At the moment i have been considering 3 different monitors to upgrade to. I am not sure which one to buy. the 32in 1440p seemed really attractive since i could sit 3 - 4 feet from it and it would still be immersive but the monitor is $400. The next best option is the 25in 1440p and from what i have gathered that monitor is probably the best bang for the buck 1440p monitor on the market from a quality manufacturer. It sports an IPS display and good response times for what it is and a very nice build aesthetic. The high pixel density would also make games look vary sharp with vivid colors and render anti-aliasing almost irrelevant. For $250 that monitor seems like a steal. Then there is the 24in 1080p monitor. This one has the best response times and also has the added benefit of being an ips display. I want to add that i dont care about lightning fast response times and frame rates. 60hz is fine for me. I am not a hyper competitive FPS gamer but more of a slow paced one suited for the likes of DayZ, Skyrim, etc where the bueatiful and detailed enviroments can be really appreciated on high res displays. So anyways to sum this up i am asking is 24in 1080p be immersive enough from 2 feet away or for 100$ more get the awesome 1440p monitor and sit 2 feet away from a glorious pixel dense ips display or should i bite the bullet and get the 32in 1440p monitor? Sorry for this long drawn out wall of texts. Im just having trouble conveying all the things i am trying to consider before i drop money on something i am going to be sticking with for many years to come. After all i want the best experience possible.

For a gtx1070, you are fully capable of a 1440p/144Hz monitor, which will a lot more for faster paced fps games vrs a 60Hz monitor. Granted, they cost more. But they are worth it.

For 1440p, you don't want to go small. 21"-24" is for 1080p at best. For 1440p, 27" is good.

These would be my choices, 1 has G-Sync (Dell), one is IPS and the last is just a plain monitor.

Monitor: Asus MG279Q 27.0" 144Hz Monitor ($549.99 @ B&H)
Monitor: Asus MG278Q 27.0" 144Hz Monitor ($399.99 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Dell S2716DG 27.0" 144Hz Monitor ($582.98 @ Newegg)
