How to activate Windows again

Hey everyone,

So I may have done something stupid. I recently upgraded my pc with a new motherboard and decided to do a fresh reinstal of Windows. When I was all done I got a watermark on the bottom-right of my pc saying I need to activate windows. I don't know where my productkey is but I still have the disc I installed windows from. When I put the disc in however nothing happened. Does anyone know how I can activate windows?

You'll have to call MS for this.

Before changing the hardware, what you should have done is this:

You need to be on Windows 10 version 1607 before they will talk to you.

right click start button
open run...
type winver and press enter
If it says version 1607 then you can talk to them.

If it doesn't, go to Here and choose update now. This will download the Upgrade Assistant. Run it and it will install latest version of Win 10.
