I originally have a W8 laptop that was upgraded to W10 during the free period. Now I want to upgrade the HDD to an SSD but now that the free W10 period has ended I was wondering if it is still possible to change hard drives and be able to keep W10? Or will the laptop be stuck to W8 if I switch hard drives?
If your Win 10 is actually activated, you will not lose it.
Just do a new install on the new drive.
When it asks for the license key, "I don't have one" is the choice you make.
You have a 'digital entitlement'. The system specs are already stored at homebase. It will activate once it goes online.
