My motherboard is Asus Z170 Hero alpha.

When i insert disk there is option in bios to boot from disk in UEFI mode or just normal boot.

When i select UEFI the black screen comes and says press any key to boot from cd or dvd...

When i press any key it goes back to bios. Why i cant install windows 10 in uefi mode?

Solution
Because of a few settings in the bios.

First of all enter the bios of the motherboard.
Make sure if the bios has an option of advanced mode it is enabled or selected.

Look for CSM mode in the bios settings pages.

Make sure it is enabled.
And that the detection order of hardware and booting devices is set to Uefi, legacy mode.

Fast boot should or can be enabled.
And secure boot should be enabled.

The HW device you select must be checked that It is Uefi capable.
Most older CD/ Dvd rom drives are only legacy boot devices.
The medium must also contain a EFI boot partition.

If the device or booting medium is Legacy based simply change the order in CSM to Legacy/ Uefi Mode.
So it does not go back to the bios when attempting to boot from...

Hi,

I don't think this relates directly to installing W10 in UEFI mode.

I think it's deciding whether to use the DVD player in UEFI or Legacy mode.

If you disable CSM (compatibility) in the BIOS, and use whatever mode gets W10 to start installing then you should be installing in UEFI mode.

As per above, there may be an issue booting the DVD drive without changing SOME settings in CSM but basically avoid Legacy if possible.

(it's not really UEFI or Legacy across the board. There should be UEFI or Legacy for different devices though there might be a top-down option to flatout disable CSM legacy options so that's definitely full UEFI support. The main issue would be the video card. I don't the DVD player matters once you've booted into Windows.)

If stuck you could also transfer the DVD to USB (rufus) which may bypass this issue.

I know it's a bit confusing.
