Going to be upgrading my PC for Christmas, though I know I want to purchase a Nvidia 1080 I'm unsure which aftermarket model is currently the best value/performance on the market, if anyone could enlighten me it'd be much appreciated.

My second question is whether it is worth running a 4k setup with a 1080, or should I just upgrade from 1920x1080 to 1440p @144hz? (And then of course which monitors you would recommend).

Thanks in advance

Okay, the first question is rather null as any of the cards are pretty similar and you might just want to go with the coolest-looking to you.

The second quesiton is all about what games you want to play. A 1080 can play most games at 60fps at 4K, except for a few needing their settings turned down to get 60FPS. A good 144hz 1440p (i personally like this) is a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0173PEX20/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0173PEX20&linkCode=as2&tag=ctone51-20&linkId=a1a2e0cb0107247d0c4af26f79a452c3 which is a 165hz 1440p monitor with 1ms response and G-Sync. It is pretty much the best 1440p 144hz+ monitor around.

Are there any 1080's you'd put above others? or is it really just anything
& I've been looking at that 1440p monitor i'm really unsure if i'll actually utilise 4K and it's £100 cheaper than the next option.

thanks

Welcome! I personally like the ASUS Strix 1080, as it is triple-fan compared to some others, but the AMP! Extreme edition is also good.

There are also cards with watercooling built-in to their own AIO with a 120mm if you are interested in those.

I'll look into the asus as not particularly looking for a watercooled card.
Looking at the monitor you linked it's actually a 4ms response time, does that actually mean anything to me? or will i not notice a difference between 1 and 4ms?

thanks

Oops, I must have missed it. You will probably not see it at all in gaming tbh.

There is a TN version of the same monitor with a 1ms response time (Not yet available in the UK), which one would you recommend? the TN or IPS model?:)

thanks

IPS is really good picture quality and TN is not so much, so I recommend the IPS model anyday.
