My second monitor won't turn on anymore. How do I re-connect it?

I had taken my laptop with me over the weekend, and when plugging it in this morning, my second monitor remains black. It's plugged in at both places (wall and laptop), and when I try to turn it (second monitor) on, nothing happens. I went into settings on my laptop (a Windows 10 machine), and disconnected it, thinking that re-connecting it would give it a nudge. Now, there isn't even an option to re-connect it.

make sure the monitor is plugged in at both ends and the outlet is providing power; then turnt he onitor on and hit it's menu button. If it cannot show you its own menu then it needs service.

Thanks so much. The exact problem was the power source. The power strip I was using had a faulty outlet. Thankfully I don't have to get it serviced/buy a new one.
