Monitor Not Working Properly??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi there, i recently purchased a PG248 ASUS 180hzs G SYNC monitor to go with my ASUS GTX 1080 and I'm having a weird booting problem. When i turn on my PC and monitor after its been off for a long time ( around a day or so ) one of two problems happens ( usually both at the same time) 1. My monitor sometimes never even turns on the lights will glow but the screen is just black and I've tested to see if my PC was functional by signing in while the monitor was doing this and it was. The other problem will be that the on indicator on the monitor sometimes is blue ( normal mode ) when it should be red ( G SYNC mode). Now this usually happens in a sequential order- the black screen happens but the on indicator is red so i turn the monitor off then on and it works but then the on indicator is blue. Restarting my PC fixes this but what gives???? This has been happening for the past three days now and its becoming annoying and frustrating. Thanks to any help or advice!!
