Never got confirmation email, cannot register with that email or username

I tried to register an account to answer I question I found here, but it never got a confirmation email and I can't find any way to have one re-sent. I also couldn't register with the username I wanted, but I also can't log in. So I registered an alternate account with an alternate email address. I'd like to use my main email address though, so if another confirmation email could be sent to my main account. The email is associated with the this same username without the "1" at the end.
