The pg279q is IPS, therefore it has better colors and viewing angles. I you do any visual productivity and need good color accuracy, IPS is definitely teh way to go.

I just game so would it be worth the extra hundred pounds of should I just stick to a really nice tn. Also is the monitor I just listed safe to buy since it's really new and not heard much about it

If you can afford the PG279Q, get that. IPS looks better.
That being said, you can't go wrong with the pg278qr either.
