Screen and Sound Turn OFF randomly whilst PC continues to run

Hello All,

I have run both a gpu and cpu stress test trawling through the pages of help on toms. Everything has turned out fine (Pass CPU and GPU). No BSOD`s , and everything passes using OCCT and Intel's Diagnostic tool.

Screen turns off and sound disappears. Cable is fine - I`ve used the same monitor on another PC - for three days and it did not happen.

Drivers updated for BIOS/GPU and sound drivers.

Anyone got any ideas? as I`m close to re-installing Windows.

I`m not entirely sure. If it were dying would it not be consistent? Are there any legitimately good programs for testing the PSU itself?

I also thought on this - and tried what has been posted here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/290251-28-testing-stability.
And the Voltage is quite stable - never going below 12.

No not that I know of but you say you have looked at voltage what PC are we talking about hardware ? age ?

PC is 3 years old.
I5 - 4460
16gb Mem
GTX 285 Nvidia

I ran memtest thus far.
Intel diagnostic tools to check for faults.
And stress tested the gpu for an hour.

The results have thus far come positive.

I haven`t had the issue for the past few days. - And I don`t know if it wasn`t influenced by a recent Windows update.
I want to say it`s this - and if it comes back - I`ll update this thread. I`ll consider it as self solved.

Possibly influenced by a recent Windows update. No other faults found -- and no issues for the last few days.
