Well i ll list down my Computer Components first of all

i7 3770k, 16GB Gskill DDR3 , Gigabyte B75-d3h board and a sapphire RX480 nitro+OC 8gb.

The monitor i currently use is Dell ST2220L and i am using it with a HDMI Port, the dell site itself says this monitor is 75hz , but since i have it (almost 4 years) it has never went above 60hz..

Coming to new monitor i want one possibly entry level 144hz monitor with Freesync if possible.

I am from India if that matters but if you all can atleast get me few model numbers i would be good to go, most of sites i have here don't mention if the monitor has free sync or not , and local shops dont even know what freesync or so is, so yeah any help would be appreciated.

Also side question - for a 144 hz monitor, is it compulsary to have atleast 144 FPS in each game to enjoy its max potential ? (asking cause i never used 144 before), or 100-120 FPS works too? (I mostly get 100-120 in most games on ultra :p so i would know if i have to tweak them too)

Solution
resolutions above 60Hz require a Displayport connection, not HDMI

for 144Hz you'd want to be above 144 at all time (like you want to be above 60fps with a 60Hz screen)

I don't actually know how good they are
but these are some models that fit your description;

Acer XF240Hbmjdpr, 24" (UM.FX0EE.001)
AOC G2460PF, 24"
ASUS MG248Q, 23.6" (90LM02D0-B01370)

My current Dell ST2220L doesnt have a display port at all, but it supports 75hz according to dell site, am i missing something?, all it has is one VGA , one DVI, ond HDMI port.

depends on your screen. look in the manual.
either your screen supports 75Hz over Duallink-DVI
or some older models support 75Hz only over an analogue input (VGA)
should all be in the manual

also sometimes they can't deliver 75Hz @maxresolution

i just tried lowering the resolution and it indeed does 75 hz at 1280x1024 and not at others, btw the AOC one you suggested , it can support 144 @ 1920x1080 right? or does it have conditions too like on lower reso's
