Question about 144Hz monitors for FPS games

So I was looking into buying a 144Hz monitor for playing counter strike global offensive, but had a question to do with FPS. So I get around 120 - 140 fps in game which drops to 100 frames occasionally on certain maps. And was wondering what would happen if I got a better monitor and played on either 120 / 144 Hz. Would only getting 100 frames on times look strange at all?

If you've got good eyes, you will either see a little bit of tearing or a little bit of lag depending on if you use V-Sync or not.
