Looking for recommendations for a DVD writer/reader and/or for a Blu-Ray writer/reader that is good at reading data from failing DVD's (due to scratches, scuff marks, and/or due to deteriorating media).

I've looked for possible drives, and asked the question elsewhere, but there has not been any definite information found nor clear response(s) (yet).

It is understood that a few of the older drives (circa. 2004 ~ 2007) were quite good at reading/recovering data from failing DVD's. But in contrast, there doesn't seem to be any good drive (that is good at reading failing DVD's) available from the latest/current generation of drives(?)

It has been suggested elsewhere that (some) Blu-Ray readers/writers might be better at reading data from failing DVD's, but this has not yet been confirmed(?)

So does anyone know of and/or have experience in using specific currently available drive model(s) that are known to be good at reading failing DVD's?

Thanks!
