Hey all,

I swapped the Sapphire TriX OC R9 290 4GB stock cooler for a Corsair Hydro HG 10 A1.
I kept all the original parts.

The card died. (tested it against an identical unit so I know for sure it's dead).
I submitted an RMA to Sapphire and Althon Micro is handling it.
I plan on installing the stock cooler before sending the card.

1. How likely is the RMA to be rejected?
2. Does anyone have experience RMA'ing of a modded GPU?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

second Rob there, though you have voided any guarantee when mounting a different cooler. I have only RMAed a psu for coilwhine and that was also a bit of hassle. if the screws are painted tread them so that there are as few visible marks, and send it away

Thanks for the responses. I reinstalled the stock cooler and send the card. Sorry, I forgot take some pics.
The stock cooler still had the plastic wrappers on it. It's never seen dust.
It looked so clean compared to rest of the card.
I cleaned the PCB in an effort to make the assembly less shady.

Althon Micro got the received the card 5 hours ago and I have not heard from them. So far so good.
I'll update once I hear back.

Girls and boys, Althon shipped a replacement card back to me last Thursday (same model, refub).
They didn't notify me. I had to call them to find out.

When I asked what was wrong with the card they said one of the fans wasn't spinning properly and caused the card to malfunction. (errm, what?!).

Thank you for your help. Hopefully this thread can help someone else in the future.
