When do you guys think DDR3 will become completely outdated/obsolete or at least really irrelevant (like DDR2)?

The prices of DDR4 are just about the same as DDR3 at the moment, production has ramped up and DDR4 is better in every aspect.

Now that prices are matched it's only a matter of time before the market transitions to DDR4

it already is outdated. If you update to a new intel system, it will be ddr4. Sure you can find a few that are still ddr3, but it wont save you any money and the performance will be inferior. So in that sense, isnt it already obsolete? I give it another year or so before ddr3 starts becoming more expensive than ddr4 due to manufacturers switching primarily over to newer fabs and the drop of support from mobos.

Next year when Zen comes out. Then both Intel and AMD will be on modern chipsets that only use DDR4. DDR3 will continue to be around for years though as there are obviously tens of millions of computers that still use and need DDR3 RAM out there. You'll just see a slow shrinking in the variety of DDR3 offered as the manufactures switch their production lines over to DDR4 one by one. But DDR3 will still be available pretty much forever, you can still buy DDR1.
