So I currently have a 24 inch monitor from Acer, http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/model/UM.FW3EE.001)
(specs if anyone wants to know)

I've had it for a year or so now and want to upgrade. I would consider a 1440p monitor however don't have enough money.

So my only choice is a 27 inch monitor, but I don't know if its worth going from 24 to 27.
If so, I've narrowed it down to two monitors:

Monitor 1 from Asus: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VC279H-Widescreen-Multimedia-Monitor/dp/B00WGD2958/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1478200820&sr=1-3&keywords=27+inch+monitor

Monitor 2 from BenQ: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2760HS-Widescreen-Multimedia-Speakers/dp/B00BPL0558/ref=sr_1_32?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1478202349&sr=1-32&keywords=27+inch+monitor

Can anyone tell me which one is better and if its worth going from 24 to 27? Thanks.

Solution
IMO, unless that 27 inch monitor had significant additional features like 144 Hz, 1440p support, G-Sync etc., I wouldn't spend the money just to get 3 more inches of monitor.

I suggest saving your money and getting something more advanced later on, provided you also have the graphics hardware to run games at 1440p+.

what BadBoyGreek said, x2

i just upgraded to a 27" 4k display, but had to also pickup a gpu (gtx 1070 to be able to run it at 3840x2160,
total outlay $850 for the monitor and card

just got them, and even thought the outlay stretched my budget, i love the new display
