Noob question incoming :
I am getting a gtx 1070 this month. I am going for the msi gaming X version since i have watched many many review and it looks like a really good choice. Now, i will be gaming in 1080p on my 60 hz monitor. I intend to change my monitor to 1440p, but this is something that will need to wait a long long time, so foe 6 months + i will be playing on this 1080p 60hz monitor. My noob question is : Will i be able to see more than the 60fps the 1070 will give me or i need to step up to a 100 or 140 hz monitor ? I dont really understand if 60hz means that my monitor cant show more than 60fps.

pc specs though might be irrelevant :
i5-3330 ( will be upgraded in a couple of months to an i7 6700k or i7 7600 )
mobo : ASRock H61M-DGS R2.0
ram : 8gb ddr3 @1066 Mhz
psu : a cheap but decent 650 W
Everything will be upgraded in the next six months, the gpu is just the first part .

Solution
60Hz means your screen refreshes the picture 60 times per second. so it will display 60 different images per second.
that's equal to 60 frames per second.

now while a 144Hz/1080p or 1440p/60Hz are ideal for a 1070, as games get more demanding, the 1070 will able to hold the frame rate even a year or two from today

What do you mean by : "as games get more demanding, the 1070 will able to hold the frame rate even a year or two from today"
