DVD Drive not showing up

Hello. My DVD drive doesn't show up in My PC or in the device manager. What should I do? I have tried many fixes such as trouble shooting and regedit and command prompt that I found on the internet. I suspect the cause is that my motherboard isn't fully Windows 10 compatible. It is a p55a ud3p motherboard which hasn't had a driver update in a long time.

  1. Hello.

Did this happen suddenly after an upgrade to windows 10? Was the drive functional beforehand?

Also, does the BIOS detect the DVD drive? If it doesn't, then it is not software related at all.
  2. It wasn't software related. It wasn't plugged in properly.
