Arcania: Gothic 4 securom issues

I have some issues with the securom DRM with this game. I assume it's because of the age of the game. I bought this game legitimately from Wal-mart, but am having trouble activating it through the primary source, including through offline means.
Please don't say "try steam" as I have already tried to activate the serial through steam, it didn't work.

If there is a patch or workaround for this problem, I would like to know of it as I have encountered a similar problem in the past with Far Cry 2. It's not much of an issue with Steam, but as I have mentioned before, the serial will not activate for me.

I'm not asking for that, I'm asking if there's been any patches released that remove the activator, like Far Cry 2.
