Black and green pixelated wallpapers after upgrade to windows 10

I have recently upgraded my lenovo g50-45 laptop from windows 8.1 to 10. Process went fairly smooth (installation took over 10 hours) but no issues until i saw my desktop wallpaper was distorted. The problem is, the issue occurs only on *some* pictures and not on all...

For example, if i select a picture of cacti as my wall paper, no problems,

But if i choose this picture as my wallpaper, i get this:

This issue occurs only with select pictures. The pictures open fine in say windows photo viewer with no issue.

I have no clue what the problem could be. Any ideas?

  1. Hello.

I would try to check for corrupted files.
    1) Right click on the start menu icon.
    2) Select "Command Prompt Admin"
    3) Type or copy: Sfc /Scannow

This will test for any corrupted windows files.

Thanks for the answer. I did what you suggested however and it didn't find anything wrong.

Oddly enough, the issue seems to have went away.

Well, guess it was something random...and weird. xD Glad it went away.

If it ever comes back it may be something serious. I suggest you try a scan with Malwarebytes just in case.
