I'm a little confused here. I know DVI-D is digital only and VGA and DVI-I is both digital and analog. My monitor only has DVI-D and VGA, right now i'm connecting VGA to motherboard and DVI-D to the GPU, its using my motherboards display and can't detect my GPU. Same goes with if i unplug the VGA and leave DVI-D to the GPU, black screen. Should I get a adapter or something, this shouldn't be so confusing but it is.

"right now i'm connecting VGA to motherboard and DVI-D to the GPU, its using my motherboards display and can't detect my GPU"
When card installed, the BIOS should automatically disable the onboard, unless you've changed the default setting in BIOS.
