mobile GPU and GTX 1080 external Graphics card. What's the difference in power

I am a newbie at this.How much power can a gtx 1080 as compared to a mobile? Meaning what can the 2 do differently . What kind of power do each of them have.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
