Hello all, I just bought the rx480 because I was really hoping to play games like Battlefield 1 and eliminate the flickering, odd letters missing on in game tabs/menus, and having to play on medium graphics quality. I had 2 r9 270x crossfiring, but I wasn't satisfied.

However, I'm wondering if my fx 8350 with the rx480 will bump down quality similar to my r9 270x's. Based off of what I read, i'm stuck with my current build because I can't get a better CPU without getting a newer motherboard (I have sabertooth 990 fx r2.) I'd really like to get the intel i5 6600k but like I said, I can't cuz of motherboard. Is there a better CPU than the fx 8350 that my motherboard could run?

Yes you are stuck :) There is better cpu FX 9000 series but it is basically overclocked FX-8350
Best thing to do now is buy good cooler and go for overclocking your current CPU. may be you squeeze a bit more life out of it.
And as soon as possible buy better cpu and newer motherboard.

If you want i5 6600k you should take Z170 series MBO
I preffer MSI so i would choose MSI Z170-A PRO
Cheaper versions are Asus Z170M-E D3
ASRock Z170M Extreme4

But if you do not think to overclock your CPU you should take cheaper but better if not overclocking i5 6600 and MBO:
Cheaper MSI: MSI B150M Pro-VD
Better MSI: MSI B150I GAMING PRO AC

Thanks for the help guys! In the meantime, should everything run well with fx-8350 and rx480? I never read a clear consensus on whether it would hurt/bottleneck performance?

Everything should work fairly well, but if you are really worried about a bottleneck, it would be with the CPU and you would need something like the i5 that was talked about to ensure no bottlenecking.

For anybody interested, battlefield 1 with my 2 r9 270xs could only run on medium settings. With my new rx 480 I can run battlefield 1 on ultra without any issues
