What everyone else said. A laptop video port is output, just like a video card or motherboard video output port on a PC. Only a standalone monitor has inputs. You can't run a console on a laptop or a PC. What you might want to look into is streaming to your laptop from your PS4 via Sony's Remote Play that was introduced earlier this year. https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/en/index.html

I have not tried it as my gaming PC has a 1440p monitor and when I connected my PS4 to my 1440p monitor, the graphics looked worse than running native on a 32" 1080p HDTV.

They don't tell you whether it's an input because it's not common. If it were, it would be a highlighted feature.
