Sooooo I'm doing this project were i am restoring this old mac for my parents(I'm gutting all the previous components out). I need to take the old 17" Crt Display out and replace it with a 17" LCD. It's an all in one Mac so the monitor is inside the case. I've heard people talk about how you do this involving some kind of power supply? I don't really know much about monitors but i have built a PC before. Any advice on how I would set up an internal monitor?

Old mac I'm talking about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMac

Just one question....why?

Any current $350 laptop will crush that thing.
If you want to do it for nostalgia, go for it.

So...
Take it apart.
See what actual type of connection goes from the motherboard to the CRT screen. VGA, maybe?
See what actually controls the power coming in...probably on the motherboard.
A monitor you put in there would require its own power cable.

But if you're just using that 'case'...then gut it, find a 4:3 monitor that fits inside. Glue it in. Power cable for the monitor out the back.
