Best wireless AC router under load

I have an Asus RT-N66U and thought i would update to the newer AC type routers. I purchased the Linksys WRT1900ACS as it had great reviews. I had several items on in the home on 2.4 and 5 GHz and downloaded a 144 minute movie with my Asus. I then connected my new WRT1900ACS and it performed slower than my old Asus. Any thoughts ? My expectations were that the newer AC router would provide me quicker speeds under heavier loads but this doesn't seem the case.

AC bonds channels together. (Is the equipment your using AC compliant?) IT does suffer more in areas of high RF interference.
