Setting up two screens (One being a Monitor and the other a TV)

I am trying to set up two displays from my PC, I have a DVI to HDMI lead to my monitor and a Mini DP to HDMI lead going to the TV and windows will not detect the display that is connected with the Mini DP to HDMI lead, can somebody please help on how I will get windows to detect the second screen.

I have tried swapping the leads over and this has had no effect.
I have a GTX 970 with 1 DVI port, 3 Mini Display ports and 1 Mini HDMI port (Mini HDMI port does not work)

If leaving only the minidp to hdmi cable, connected to the monitor, does it work?
What if using only the DVI to HDMI with the TV?

I have tried just using the Mini DP to HDMI, that doesn't work
And if I switch the cables around only the display which is connected with DVi to HDMI works

Then it might be an issue with the minidp port, or with the minidp to hdmi cable.
