How do I get my PC to detect my 2nd monitor using a VGA splitter?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M600 Core i3 and I recently acquired a 2nd monitor. My original monitor was connected using a VGA cable so I purchased a VGA splitter since my PC only has 1 VGA port. I originally looked into buying a VGA to HDMI converter however there's no HDMI port on this PC. Both monitors at HP L1506 so they do not have additional ports. Once I connected everything using the splitter it has just split my display onto 2 screens and I cannot find a way to get the PC to detect the 2nd display screen. Can somebody please assist? Thank you.

A "VGA splitter" will not do what you want.
The PC sees only one monitor. The cable splits that into two.

What video ports does the PC have on the back, and what ports do your monitors have?

The monitors only have VGA ports and the PC has USB and Display Port open

Then you need some sort of a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.
