Cant run direct x 12

Hey all, Just got a rx480 and a 144hz monitor for my new rig I juat built a couple months ago. I noticed when I use msi afterburner to show me my fps, gpu, load etc it says D3D11, is that dx11? I checked dxdialog and dx12 is installed but non of my games run it. I even uninstalled my graphics drivers, I've double checked everything I need to run it is there.

You may have DX12 hardware but you also need DX12 software in order to see DX12 used.
There are not a whole lot of DX12 titles yet.

Most games still use DX11 even though DX12 is available.

Afterburner tells you the DX API running, not what your system is capable of...what you're seeing is the DX version the game you're running uses....

Ok, that makes sense. I could swear I've seen a few comparisons of Doom, GTA5 and a few other games using DX12 and a RX480. Guess I was mistaken. Thanks for the info.

DOOM runs vulkan which is similar to dx12 but quite the same.
GTA 5 runs basically in dx9 and only has some dx11 effects.

If you want to check out dx12, without spending money, get the forza horizon 3 demo from the windows store.
