Want to install windows 10 to a new computer from USB but worried about current hard drive

I have gone down the route of purchasing windows 10 on another computer and installing the download onto a USB. This is because i am building a new computer this Christmas. However i still plan on using my old hard drive that has Windows 7 on it.

My question is will i have to delete windows 7 on my hard drive before i place it in the new rig? This is because i plan on booting windows 10 from USB on first startup or will the new windows just overwrite the existing windows 7 on the hard drive?

Do you intend to replace win 7 with win 10 on new PC? If so, the best option would be a clean install using that USB and that would remove all the partitions on the drive and create new ones, leaving no trace of win 7

Thanks for the fast reply, Yes i intend to use windows 10. So just to clarify a clean install should just remove windows 7?

clean install wipes the hdd, nothing left.
