First of all, greetings Tom's community. This is my first question I've asked on this website, so apologies if I haven't worded this question right.

When reading this thread, please keep in mind I am living in New Zealand, so I will be referring to prices in New Zealand dollars. Because of God-knows-what reason, the prices of computer components here are just under double the average American price, so you should probably cut my prices in half and use that to judge how to help me. (I have such a way with words don't I...)

Anywho, lets begin.

Currently I have a factory hp pavilion 500-401a
The specs are:

Motherboard: MS-7906
CPU: AMD A8 6500
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon R7 240
If I have missed any important specs, please tell me.

My current power supply is a no-name brand with 300W.

I wish to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 950 (haven't figured out the brand yet), and this requires at least a 350W power supply, so to accommodate for this I need to get a new PSU.

I'd like my PSU to be around 500-550 watts as I will likely upgrade my cpu in the distant future, but for now all I need the PSU for is the new GPU.

Now, to upgrade these two components, I wish to spend no more than $400. When taking into account the price of the GPU (approximately $250-$300 depending on the brand and/or seller), this leaves me between $100-$150 to spend on a decent PSU. Now, In New Zealand we have a very limited range of PSUs to choose from. For example, I've done some looking around online and saw that an XFX TS 550W would fit my needs and price range, however there is not a single store in this freaking country (including online ones) that sells the brand XFX. I doubt I could buy abroad, because Amazon would just send me the PSU with an American cable (or would they?). Anyway, my point is in New Zealand we don't have access to many brands of PSUs. Believe me, I would by a Seasonic or XFX PSU if I could.

Also, I like PSUs that don't emit a lot of noise, but that's not as important.

So I'm asking for what is a decent, somewhat quiet, PSU that ranges between $100 and $150, and is 500-550W. I don't really desire a modular one, I don't care about appearance and I'd probably just lose the cables. I'd appreciate any help I could get.

By the way, sorry if I used bad grammar or if I feel like I'm ranting.

You should be looking at at a 1050ti mate because it crushes the 950 completely.

PSU wise just lookin on pbtech (its the only site I know)

That's a truly excellent unit but will put you a bit over budget.

A budget unit but a lot cheaper , average but solid quality.

Can't find Seasonic in New Zealand anywhere, but there are quite a lot or Corsairs available. Is the CX series really enough? I guess New Zealand's main online store in Trade Me.
Here's a link of all their power supplies (new and used) - www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/CategoryListings.aspx?mcatpath=computers%2fcomponents%2fcases-power-supplies%2fpower-supplies&condition=all

There are only a handful of stores that specialise in PC parts, and most of them have a limited range.

Thanks for telling me about the 1050, I've never heard of that. Might go with the 600W one.
