i have a hp i5 with a nvidia ge force 730 with dddr3 i hdmi and 1 vga. on the back of the machine there are two other hdmi slots. but when i put the hdmi cables in they are not recognised ? are these slots linked to the motherboard ? also i told i could get a vga to usb cable to get the 3rd monitor working .. is this right ? i want to have a fully functioning monitor rather than a slave. 3 monitor will be used for browing and live tv if that makes a difference. the two new monitors are 24 es and the old one is lp1965 so no hdmi cable slot on this ones ... thanks

Solution
Because I thought you have a VGA Monitor, I suggested the USB to VGA converter, but you will need a USB to DVI converter like:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/COOLEAD-Graphic-Adapter-HDMI-M...

USB 3.0 cable needed for this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-USB-3-0-DVI-Adapter/dp/...
Just had a look at the lp1965 monitor, does it has a DVI port?

Then you can try to activate the HDMI ports on the motherboard inside the BIOS and get a HDMI to DVI adapter.
Update the BIOS from the HP support homepage, if there is no option to activate the "IGP" or integrated graphics.

Or if the integrated graphics can still not be enabled, get a USB to DVI interface
