So, I'm looking for something better to support more modern gaming (not necessarily on all Ultra or even High if it's not possible). I was wondering if I could get some advice as to what CPU I could get to accompany the R9 280x.
I'm looking for something good quality. As of now I have the FX-6300 which is fairly alright but, I want something that doesn't need to be "overclocked" as I feel it's an unnecessary hassle.
CPU - FX6300
GPU - R9 280x
Motherboard Model - GA-78LMT-USB3
So, on to the second part, compatibility. I don't mind hashing out a few extra hundos for a Motherboard if it's needed for the new CPU ALTHOUGH I would rather avoid it. I'm looking around the $450-550(For the CPU...or both if possible.) but, obviously I don't mind if it's over by a bit.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The FX-6300 is powerful enough, why would you want to switch that out? If you want better gaming performance, you'll have to upgrade your GPU, not CPU.

All performance checks and runs have shown the Fx6300 under-performing while the 280x is keeping up. I can overclock the Fx6300 but I'm not particularly a fan of doing so.
