Hello guys,

I have an intel quad 9300 which is running hotter than should. I think I have some kind of bad cpu with high tdp.

First i got it with some cheap artic alpine 7 pro cooler- not overclocked- idle temperature was 45c.
Case air flow isnt good but still thats too high temp for idle.
Next I reseated and applied new termal paste-cooler is not moving or anything, no change.

Than I bought little better cooler Artic freezer 7, and voile, no change. Only i got lower temp when doing intel burn stress test for 5c but thats probably cuz fan has more rpm.

I tried to push a cooler with a hand and see if there is a temp drop, but nothing. Cooler is seated properly.

In BIOS, Speedstep and C1E are enabled, voltage is on auto. Messing with a seeting didnt make a difference.

I tried overclocking and its not raising temp that much, passed intel burn test but got kernel 41 error sometimes when playing games (can be cuz my RAM cycle dropped from CL6 to CL5 and its not stable)

So is it possible that i just have cpu that runs that hot?

when you say it is running hot, and mention 45c at idle I am not sure what you mean, I have a Q8400 on a water cooled system and it only run 38c at idle, but when playing a game it sits pretty at 55c so , what does yours do ?
Intel says the q9300 has a temp of 71.4c for its max cut off temp it will sustain at upper range of temperature.
So what does your cpu show at gaming playing time ?

Hello,

Well its 71c yeah but it will not throttle down until 100c, I have intel burn test with over 80c with no problem, stable.

Idle on 13c room temp: 45c ; idle on 22 room temp-50-52. ; When playing games- its below 70c.
