My search feature disappeared. I was disabled Cortana in Local Group Policy Editor and somehow the entire Search folder is now missing. I was hoping to make it search Programs and Files. I also downloaded TakeOwn to gain ownership. Created folder in C:\\Window "SystemApps.bak, opened Cortana file location, cut/pasted it into the new folder just created. I even renamed the Cortana file moved with ".bak" at the end.

Completely broke search bar/Start seach. I just bought my son a refurbished laptop with Win 10 and it has the Windows search bar but without Cortana. I got jealous and wanted the same feature with no irritating Cortana.

Any advice on how to achieve add search bar/Start search without Cortana?

Right-click the Taskbar, go to Cortana and select Hidden. When you open the Start menu, begin typing to perform a normal search.

Sounds like you've taken a sledgehammer to a peanut.
